US dollar was always a trend topic, some people say it has Illuminati signals in it, some of them say they are showing future. For me, they were never so mysterious like $2 bill. It is worth to be catchy because it can found rarely and even some people in USA doesn't know it is exist.
(Sad but true) Luckily, I have this in my wallet from 2009 series and I'm keeping it for luck. (In Poland, who needs dollar anyway)
As i mentioned above, $2 bill is so rare and has smallest denomination in US Currency. It has only %2 in the US dollar circulation which makes it even more legendary for people. So what is the history of $2 bill? It first printed in 1862 and until 1950 it was continued printing normally. Yet after 1950 printing numbers began decreasing and legend of $2 bill started. Nowadays, $2 bills continue to be printed every few years. In 2013 October, Bureau of Engraving and Printing printed 45 million new $2 bills and publish them in to the economy. This was
the first printing since 2009. As a result, It can be understandable that Bureau of Engraving and Printing is not printing $2 so often mostly it is because demand is low and they are not really in to circulation system. However, As seen in the graph Volume of $2 in US Currency Circulation is growing rapidly. In 1994, the volume of $2 was 0,5 billion dollar but in 2011 it is doubled and still 1 billion dollar is current volume of $2.
I wanted to look at the average life span of $2 in Federal Reserve Bank web-site, despite the fact that they have a table with every paper banknote, they have no data for $2 because of lack of circulation. Which makes it for me more and more mysterious. What is more, some Americans think that $2 bill is not valid or they are not still printing. This cause a lot of misunderstanding in daily-life, some people reported that usually cashiers are not accepting and sometimes they even accused for carrying `base money`. It is basically because of less circulation. It is hard to say 25 years old guy/girl cashier `Oh hey, actually it is valid $2 currency and Federal Reserve Bank is still printing it. But because of less circulation you never see it in your life.` What can happen to make $2 more popular? Basically, $2 has to used in daily activity more. Usually people are collecting them and they get away from daily circulation. In 2dollarbill.org they stated that $2 is used by Gentlmen's Club and Casinos to giving change to customers so they can get $2 instead of $1 tips. To be honest, I found it clever.
As I mentioned above, $2 bill has the smallest percentage of circulation in US Currency which is showing in the pie-chart. When we look at the pie chart with %31 percent $1 bill is the most popular bill in the market. $100 bill has %27 and $20 bill has $23. %7, %5 is $5 and $10 respectively. The last two is with %4 $50 dollar and %3 $2 dollar.
How much I can earn if I have $2 Bill?
Answer is very simple, you can give your $2 bill and instead of it you can take two $1 bill. Because it is still in circulation, it has no value for collectors. Of course, If you have $2 Large Size bill before 1920 you can go and talk with collectors.
In conclusion, Two dollar bills are currently still valid and in circulation rarely. Mostly, people use this bill as collection which take it out from circulation. Because of low demand and low circulation, Bureau of Engraving and Printing mostly prints it every 4 years. But If we compare the volume and popularity of $2 bill from 1990 to today, the popularity of the bill is increasing after the myths and legends about $2 is getting more popular.
